IP Video Surveillance
Rapid development, spread and availability of the networks and network technologies had decisive impact in many spheres, the networks could not be traditionally linked to. So, Ethernet technology and TCP/IP protocol have become the most attractive universal transmitting medium of today. It is difficult to find out any application in which the need for transmitting or storing the data, picture or any other contents have not been solved by using the Ethernet.

MDS has recognized the new technology and the concept of the network system for video surveillance, as the new service, in the integrated network environment. So, the video surveillance in its most advance form has been joined up by the data transmission, the concept of IP Telephony and video conferences.
SONY
, one of the leading companies in the sphere of video surveillance and the biggest producers of CCD video sensors has been selected as the strategic partner in this sphere.

The conventional systems for video surveillance have not rendered the possibility of universal access to the system from any location within the building, while the access from longer range or from any other town was not feasible or did cause enormous expenses. The traditional systems also had other shortcomings such as the technology of storing the video records, susceptibility to the effects of disturbances, lack of flexibility as well as impossibility of rapid and easy system extension.

The entirely new concept of video surveillance has occurred with the invention of network (IP) cameras. Their main characteristic is in the fitted Ethernet interface, which enables them to be directly connected to the local computer network, not requiring a separate cable infrastructure. Taking into consideration their basic function, these cameras do not differ much from the analogue ones, they can be either fixed or controllable (PTZ), with changeable lenses or adapted for the operation in the conditions of low illumination.

The system of video surveillance does not require prior setting up of the surveillance center position, nor it limits the number of points where from all cameras may be watched. Therefore, the displacement of the control center, in case of adaptation and extension of the building where in the system is installed, does not make any difficulty nor it incurs additional high expenses, as it is not based on the special-purpose coaxial cable system.

As the IP camera is the basic unit of such system for video surveillance, the greatest attention has been paid to it. So, in the offer of SONY Company one may find the cameras which support all the above mentioned opportunities such as wireless access to LAN, power supplyvia network (PoE), or dual voice transmision together with the picture.
