IP Telephony - National Bank of Serbia
MDS Information Engineering continued its year-long successful cooperation with the National Bank of Serbia by taking part in one of the largest ever projects carried out in NBS in the last couple of years, that is the equipment and movement to a new building at the Slavija square. MDS participated in practically all sections of the project concerned with communication infrastructure of the NBS building. We have been involved in the following projects:
  • Structural cabling of the building
  • LAN network
  • WAN network
  • IP telephone system
  •  

    The telephone system in the new NBS building was implemented in the application of voice transmission via IP package using cable infrastructure and active communication equipment for data transmission, which is LAN network. IP telephony system consists of the following components:

  • Client devices within telephone system are IP telephones whose main feature is to enable connection of user computers to LAN network via Ethernet port integrated into IP telephone. Also, the telephones are supplied through LAN network.
  • The system for incoming call processing was implemented as an application solution of Cisco CallManager, installed on separate server units. The design of IP telephone system entails the existence of 1:3 redundancies at the level of the system for processing calls which guarantees high accessibility and reliability of IP telephone system.
  • The coupling system between the private telephone networks to public telephone network was carried out with the help of two separate devices Cisco AS capable of aggregating four ISDN PRI connections that is the coupling of the private telephone network and public network via 240 DS0 channels.
  • The receiver system of voice, e-mail and fax messages and their uniform distribution is based on Cisco Unify Messaging server, Cisco Unity, using the services of Interstar XMediusFAX fax server.
  • The system of advanced servicing of incoming calls, Cisco IP QueueManager, is the application enabling formation of different voice menus which could be presented to the caller. Based on the result of selection the system reroutes the caller to the desired destination (local telephone number).

    Telephone system implemented fully complies with Single-site model of IP telephony, which means that at the time of the project implementation the processing of calls via corporative WAN network was not included in the Project. All the components of the private telephone exchange with switching of IP packages such as: system coupling with the public telephone network, system for reception and distribution of voice, e-mail and fax messages, system for advanced servicing of incoming calls and all user devices, e.g. for advanced servicing of IP telephones located in the building and mutually communicating via local computer network.

     
    The user PCs are connected to the local computer network via Ethernet port integrated in IP telephone. It means that a cascade connection is formed between the user PC and IP telephone completed at the switch of the access layer i.e. Cisco Catalyst. Every user PC should be installed in corresponding VLAN depending on the organizational unit it belongs to within the enterprise. Also, IP telephone has to be set in VOICE VLAN.
